Chehalem Winery Tasting Room & Wine Bar in Newberg, Oregon

One of the fabulous wineries I visited during my recent visit to Oregon’s Willamette region was Chehalem Wines Tasting Room. I first tasted these wines at an event in San Francisco and immediately adored them. Read more about my visit below! 106 South Center Street. Newberg, OR 97132.

I visited during COVID 19, however, this winery like all the wineries I experienced was super prepared and had made adjustments ensuring it was safe to visit for both the guests and their team hosting. A few rules to note: You aren’t allowed to bring in outside food and guests were encouraged to wear masks inside, except when drinking and eating. I wore a mask as I was in the tasting room except while eating or drinking at my table.

The interior was buzzing, clearly even during COVID people want to get out and wine taste. This new set up was less crowded than usual as they had removed table ensuring guest tables were spread apart allowing for social distancing.

The Rosé of Pinot Noir had touches of red fruit such as cranberry, red currant, and cherry.

I was super surprised by how much I loved the Riesling it had great acidity, was fairly dry, and also had a creamy taste to it. One thing this region continued to do was surprise me with fun exciting varietals. I was expecting to only drink Pinot Noir & Chardonnay in Oregon, boy was I mistaken.

My host, Dave Rice Chehalem Winery’s Hospitality Director welcoming me (masked) and sharing more about these wines. A fun fact about the brand that you may not know is that their winemaker is a woman, Katie Santora who I met in San Francisco and is super nice and beyond talented.

I enjoyed a cheese plate during my visit which due to COVID is pre-packaged individually. It was delicious and paired perfectly with the wonderful Chehalem Wines.

I tasted 3 of the Chehalem Wines Pinot Noir Wines which were as amazing as I remembered. The Ribbon Ridge 2017 Reserve (below) was my favorite of the 3. It had great spice to it yet also very smooth and elegant. Honestly, if you’re an Oregon Pinot Noir lover you can’t go wrong with any of these delicious Pinot Noir Wines.
