Where is Ada Street and why must you visit: Ada Street is located in Chicago in between Bucktown and Lincoln Park and is amazing. It’s a fun spot with small plates, great cocktails, and a record collection that you can peruse then pick one to play while you hang out on their vintage record player. This is probably the coolest, most intimate restaurant I’ve experienced in Chicago. Unlike most of the larger restaurants found in Chicago, at Ada Street you feel like you’re in New York’s West Village or London in a super small, cozy, off the beaten path destination. This charm paired with their delicious food, excellent service, and incredible cocktails make Ada Street a Chicago must try and J.S.F. favorite!

Who is the Chef: Chef Joanna Stachon, a native of Chicago’s South Side joined the Ada St. team immediately after opening in March of 2012. Prior to her most recent appointment, Joanna held the role of Sous Chef at Ada Street for the last two years under former Executive Chef Zoe Schor. Joanna hails from Chicago’s south side and started her career in Greek diners near her home, before briefly attending Southern Illinois University while pursuing a major in philosophy. However, the call of the kitchen finally won out and she enrolled in culinary school at the Illinois Institute of Art. Following graduation, Joanna has held a role of butcher at both Artisanal and Publican Quality Meats as well as various positions at Ada Street.

The incredible Jerusalem Artichoke chips. We started with these and they were incredible!

The Ada Street Chicken Wings. These were delicious, probably the most gorgeous Chicken Wing presentation I’ve ever had with incredible flavor and crispy skin. I love the subtle sesame seeds on the wings which gave a nice touch of flavor.

The yummy Roasted Carrots. I also enjoyed the Scallops (not shown) which were delicious. Pretty much everything we ate during this dinner was incredible hence why you need to check it out!

The Ada Bread Pudding. My friend Rachel who joined me for dinner told me this was a must try. She was right as someone who usually skips dessert I was beyond impressed with this. So much that we finished the entire plate. Even if you don’t have a sweet tooth be sure to save room for this when you visit Ada Street it’s beyond incredible!

What to wear to Ada Street:  Ada Street is fairly casual meaning a Coat and Tie is not necessary. I’d wear my usual which is jeans, booties and a top or sweater or a cute leather jacket.   Shop my favorite casual dinner looks below.  Happy shopping!
