After hearing about Littoria Wines for years and tasting them at various special events or special occasions, I was beyond excited to visit their Sonoma Coast Winery this Spring. Located in Sebastopol, California.

Views of the gardens intermixed within the biodynamic vineyards. I’ve been to a handful of biodynamic wineries in California such as Littoria, Benziger Family Winery, & Hamel Family Wines to name a few and there gardens are always stunning with wildflowers, bees, bat boxes it really brings so many aspects of nature together it’s magical!

Throughout the vineyards there were piles of mulch and biodynamic composts. Since the entire vineyard is biodynamic everything is reused or put back into the earth to strengthen the soils and avoid any waste while also creating extremely fertile healthy soils to grow the incredible Littorai Wines in.

This is the compost hut where all the various mixes are made that are used within the vineyard for the biodynamic mixes. There are bins of dried flowers and tons of other natural elements blended into the mix. There are also 6 cows, and sheep on the farm (these animals are necessary if you’re farming biodynamically) and 6 full-time farmers managing the land and the vineyards.

After our vineyard tour we concluded with a tasting in the winery. Since Littorai doesn’t have a formal tasting room, the tastings are done here which is fun as you feel that you’re really seeing the behind the scenes production area where these incredible wines are made.

The day I was there they were packing up these magnificent Littorai Wines magnums. Wow, if this doesn’t make you crave a bottle or two of wine I don’t know what does!
