When it comes to a day of wine tasting, deciding what to wear can be intimidating. You want to pick pieces that offer both comfort and style while taking your itinerary, the weather, and the winery culture into account. Luckily for you, deciding what to wear wine tasting is one of my specialties. Keep on reading to see some examples of my go-to outfits for a day of swirling and sipping!
This striped maxi dress with a twisted halter neckline was comfortable and effortless. It provided the perfect look for my tasting at Freeman Winery in Sonoma, CA. If you’d like to read about this particular tasting, be sure to check out my Fabulous Tasting at Freeman Winery blog post here.
A similar outfit to the one pictured above is this airy white maxi dress with blue patterned straps. I styled this piece with some bright earrings, a thick bangle, and a bold lip to add some pops of color. I wore this while visiting Bucher Vineyards in Healdsburg, CA. To learn more about their wines and new tasting room, take a look at my Grand Cru Custom Crush blog post here.
California’s wine country offers some of the best weather in early autumn, and what better complement to a warm September afternoon in Napa than this pink floral sundress? Some turquoise tassel earrings and a pair of strappy white sandals completed this look for my incredible harvest visit to Opus One Winery.

Pictured here is a Jill Stuart floral sundress I wore out to a tasting, but this time in Sonoma County. Sundresses are such a staple in my California wine tasting wardrobe because they’re comfortable, bright, and (bonus!) they make for great Instagram pictures. I wore this outfit to an bloggers’ event we hosted at MacRostie Winery. Go see the details and photos from the event in the blog post here!
I wore this Banana Republic blue and white striped dress to Bricoleur Vineyards. I love how flowy and fun this piece is specially paired with these cream-colored sandals and matching earrings.
Looking for something a little more functional while still maintaining that formal quality? Opt for a trendy jumpsuit like this striped one I wore to an event at Gary Farrell Vineyards I hosted with Emily Martin Events (see more on our blog here).
You can read all about my Beyond Incredible Gary Farrell Inspiration Tasting here. I paired this jumpsuit with some statement earrings and an enamel bangle to complete this chic look!
Another fantastic non-dress option are rompers. I love this short sleeve royal blue romper and how well it paired with my face mask for an easy, COVID-friendly wine tasting outfit. If you’d like to read more about what wine tasting is like in our “new normal”, be sure to look through the Covid Wine Tasting section of the blog here.
This green romper with a tie front was another effortless outfit. Ideal for a day spent exploring the grounds at Peay Vineyards in Sonoma County. For more Sonoma winery suggestions, check out my list of the Best California Sonoma Wineries here.
During one of my many visits to Three Sticks Winery at an event I hosted with Emily Martin Events (read about that on our blog here) I wore this gorgeous textured black midi dress. I completed the ensemble with red accents on my nails and lips. Not only do these tones create a sophisticated look, they also match the delicious Pinot Noir in my glass!
One final winery look I want to share with you all is this red, white, and blue top and skirt combo. The classic colors and relaxed silhouette were perfect for a warm day spent at Williams Selyem in Healdsburg.
