As some of you may know, I have been preparing for the WSET Level 3 certification exam for the past few months. With lots of online courses, diligent note-taking, and hours of studying also comes getting to drink many different wines. It’s the best way to put my knowledge to the test! It’s important to find great wines that don’t break the bank while studying. For this reason, I’ve curated a list of The Best Trader Joe’s wines to buy while studying WSET. Enjoy!
The Best Wine Glasses for Wine Tasting
Those of you who LOVE to wine taste (like me) know how important great glassware is when tasting beautiful wine. Shop my favorite glass-wear items below!
Alamos Malbec
One of the best Trader Joe’s wines to buy is this fantastic Alamos Malbec. One of my favorite things about Trader Joe’s wines in that they do not compromise quality for a low price point. This Malbec is no exception. At only $7.99, this wine offers black cherry, floral, and toasty aromas, with elements of black raspberry, chocolate, and spice on the palette.
Bogle Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel
Although I don’t drink Zinfandel as often as other reds, this Bogle Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel is delightful. Dark cherry, blackberry, black pepper, and a hint of vanilla play beautifully together. At such a great price point, the quality is unparalleled. What a value at $7.99.
Picton Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
In classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc fashion, this Picton Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc offers deliciously crisp notes of citrus and gooseberry. It is pleasant on the palette and would pair perfectly with shellfish or a nice goat cheese. And it’s only $6.99 a bottle!
La Ferme Julien Blanc
This La Ferme Julien White Wine from the Rhone Valley of France boasts surprising quality given its price point. Initially exuding citrus flavors and elements of apple and pear, there are also subtle notes of minerality or stone that offer an extra layer of complexity. This wine is made exclusively for Trader Joe’s which is probably how they can offer it at $5.99 a bottle. You can’t beat that price!
La Ferme Julien Rosé
La Ferme Julien Rosé is another one of the Best Trader Joe’s wines to buy. At the same price as its white counterpart, it also offers a dry, refreshing, and crisp tasting experience. With both citrus, red berry, and floral notes, you’ll want to pick this one up for a spring dinner party or even a picnic!
Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon
Something that makes Penfolds Cab Sauv one of the best Trader Joe’s wines to buy is that is their winemaking process, they use fruit from only one region or sub-region. This allows you to really hone in on the elements of the growing process that influence the wine in your glass. It is captivating and immensely helpful while studying WSET.
