Over the past few months, I’ve had a few occasions to visit Merriam Vineyards located in Healdsburg and loved it. This family-owned winery is such a gem producing lovely wines by Winemaker William Weese. Learn more about Winemaker William in my Interview with him here.

Proprietors Peter & Diana Merriam who are fabulous!
Peter and Diana Merriam fell in love with Sonoma County when they first visited in 2000. They soon had the good fortune of purchasing the estate which at the time needed extra care in converting it into a sustainable farm. They immediately began the process of farming grapes with organic and sustainable practices in mind.
With a home in Maine and an office in Boston, the family enjoys a bi-coastal lifestyle, spending time in both New England and California. Peter and Diana have three sons and one daughter; Stefan, Nicolas, Evan, and Danielle. Evan is involved in the day-to-day running of the estate.
The Merriams remain grounded in their vision of exceptional hospitality, sustainable farming, and producing wines inspired by French styles of winemaking.

Merriam Vineyards
As soon as we arrived at Merriam Vineyards, I was greeted with a smiling face handing me a glass of Rosé. This is a tradition I love as I’m wine-tasting. I’ve been to Merriam Vineyards a few times since that first visit and each and every time, they do not disappoint. I’m continuously welcomed with a smile and glass of Merriam Vineyards.

There are both indoor and outdoor options for wine tasting depending on your own preference. Whether you choose to enjoy the fresh air with an amazing view of the winery, or stay inside, you’re in for a great time.
Merriam Vineyards also makes their own olive oil which is delicious!
They also have an assortment of merchandise to purchase from including clothing, accessories, candles, and of course their amazing wines.
Wine Tasting
During one of my Merriam Vineyards visits, I bumped into the fabulous Chef Crista Luedke. She’s a Sonoma Chef who I adore. Read more about Crista in my interview with Chef Crista here.
You know I love taking my lovely dog Ernestine with me every chance I get. I was so happy when I found out Merriam Vineyards was dog-friendly because she loves coming with me just as much. For more Dog-Friendly wineries, visit my blog The Best Dog-Friendly Sonoma Wineries.
Their patio has the most gorgeous West facing views and is perfect for wine tasting. They also offer a cheese & charcuterie experience (you must pre-order 48 hours in advance to enjoy) from Big Bottom Market which is divine!
As you can see Merriam Vineyards is beyond dog-friendly. Shown are me and one of the puppies who works for employee Michael.
Cheers to an amazing visit at Merriam Vineyards… can’t wait to come back!
