Pebble Beach Food & Wine 2015 Meatopia Beach Party

As a newbie to the 2015 Pebble Beach Food & Wine I was thrilled to attend the acclaimed Meatopia Event. This fabulous beach front event is described “Meatopia is the brainchild of award-winning writer Josh Ozersky from Esquire. If you are vegan, stop reading now – this is not for you. For the lovers of meat and all things primal this is the one event that is worth the trip no matter where you come from. An informal evening on the beach where nationally renowned chefs play with fire as they grill, roast, broil, steam and barbeque all things MEAT. Cocktails, Brews and Wine keep the night going as we celebrate the Carnivore inside us. Come hungry!”

What a dream come true. Meat. Wine. Beach. Fun. Since the PBFW Event in May of 2015, sadly Josh has passed away and the food industry will mourn this amazing food innovator and legend.  Josh was known for launching New York Magazine’s food blog Grub Street, operating the site until 2008, and earning a James Beard Award for his work on the site. In 2010 Ozersky launched Ozersky TV celebrating chefs and restauranteurs.  It truly is a huge loss that Josh is not with us anymore. He will forever be remembered and missed by those that knew him and even those like me, who may not have known him but knew of all the amazing things he did in the culinary industry and how respected and adored he was. A huge thank you to Josh for creating Meatopia and allowing fellow meat lovers like myself an amazing event bringing together talented chefs, delicious food, and other fellow meat lovers.  

Below you’ll find some of the highlights from this year’s PBFW Meatopia. I can’t wait to return again next year and enjoy beach front grilling, amazing food and fabulous company.  One suggestion for those attending is to pack FLIP FLOPS (rookie mistake which I forgot) and layers as it got chilly on the ocean front. Regardless, plan to have a great time, enjoy delicious meats and meet some extremely talented Chefs.  Thanks again to the PBFW Team and Josh Oersky for bringing this amazing event to PBFW. Monterey Beach Front. Pebble Beach Food & Wine 2015 Meatopia The Spit Roasted Passmore Ranch Sturgeon. This was the most talked about Fish on the beach. People were going nuts over it. I tasted it and it was fabulous!
