The Taman Sari An Incredible Bali Hotel in Pemuteran

Stop #3 on Bali 23 Day Adventure

For the third leg of my Bali trip I explored the North West portion of the Island, a small Beach town called Pemuteran. I had read this was a lovely part of the island that most visitors didn’t get the chance to visit due to its distance from the more central area of the island. It took approximately 3.5 hours to drive from Ubud to Pemuteran. Definitely not an easy destination to get to, which is exactly what appealed to me. I was lucky enough to have connected with a driver in Seminyak, Mr. Big thanks to my Aussie friends Claire and Fraser who have frequented Bali a bunch and had amazing tips and drivers to share with me.

Taman Sari HotelThis was a great hotel with amazing beach access and everything I could need, or want during my North West coastal visit. It has a large beach covering the perimeter of the property, a pool, a spa and a delicious restaurant and bar. I also realized upon arrival that they have a Dive School, Bali Diving Academy on site. Bali Diving Academy turned out to be the best surprise I could have hoped for as my Pemuteran visit went from a quiet beach visit into a monumental Scuba Dive experience for me! The hotel has small Villa’s as well as Suites. I was lucky to enjoy their Junior Suite. The Junior Suite has a bedroom with attached outdoor shower (as do the villa’s) and also a lovely front terrace with a Lilly Pond & private day bed for resting. Quite lovely and serene.  Dusun Pemuteran, Kecamatan Gerokgak, Kabupaten Buleleng- BaliPemuteran, Gerokgak, BaliIndonesia

The Spa at Taman Sari HotelThe Hotel Spa had the same intimate, authentic experience as the hotel. It was in an antique looking building with two simple rooms, each featuring an attached outdoor shower and hot tub. I enjoyed two treatments during my visit: The 30 minute massage & Yogurt Wrap as well as a 60 minute traditional Indonesian Massage. Wow!! After the first wrap and massage I knew I’d be back. Clearly I’m a big fan of the Indonesian style massage. It’s a strong rub, massage feel that is amazing. I loved my masseuse so much I requested she do my second treatment.  Dusun Pemuteran, Kecamatan Gerokgak, Kabupaten Buleleng- BaliPemuteran, Gerokgak, BaliIndonesia

The Taman Sari Beach Front Restaurant Prior to Pemuteran, I was in Ubud and was spoiled by the fabulous Hotel & local food I enjoyed.  In Ubud, I had the privilege of dining at the famous Mozaic Restaurant Gastronomique known as Bali’s #1 Restaurant.   As a result I wasn’t expecting the same over-the-top fabulous cuisine in Pemuteran as I’d experienced in Ubud. Well I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. Although the restaurant is much more low-key at the Taman Sari, the food was quite tasty and extremely fresh and authentic. I fell in love with their Fried Rice, Chicken Curry, & Fried Noodles amongst other things. Clearly, not only the high-end fabulous restaurants and hotels can make delicious authentic, flavorful Indonesian food! The Bar is also quite tasty making fresh mocktails, my favorite the Ginger Lemon Soda (shown below).
