Dry Creek Valley is a beautiful area full of really amazing wineries. I just got to experience Dry Creek Valley AVA’s 40th Anniversary Celebration. Continue reading to learn more about the Dry Creek Valley AVA 40th Anniversary Celebration. This was an amazing panel moderated by my friend Chris Sawyer, Aka Sawyer Somm and it was so informative, delicious and such a special once in a lifetime tasting.
The Guided Tasting led by Chris Sawyer
The Dry Creek Valley AVA 40th Anniversary Celebration kicked off with a seated guided tasting of 10 Dry Creek wines and each winemaker speaking to the wines. This was beyond informative learning about the rich history of the AVA and some of the founding fathers who helped shape this AVA into what it is now.
Quivara Winemaker Hugh Chapelle and DaVero Winemaker DaVero Winemaker Rea Prince speaking about their wines.
During this side by side from these two winemakers we enjoyed a 2019 Quivara Grenache which was beautiful. Extremely smooth, expressive and overall lovely!
For DaVero we tasted a 2018 Altobasso which was also wonderful. It had big fruit such as raspberry, black fruit, licorice and leather flavors. What a treat enjoying these two wines side by side.
