During a recent media trip to Italy’s Franciacorta Wine Region I had the pleasure of spending four days visiting various wineries in this incredible Sparkling Wine Region. One of the wineries I experienced was Barone Pizzini an incredible organic winery making some lovely wines with a beautiful new winery and production facility. See more about this winery below and see my full Franciacorta Part One Blog Post here.
I loved the warm welcome from the Barone Pizzini Winery team. They really made us feel so welcome and it is small touches and details like this that shows what great hospitality they have.
Our amazing host Silvano Brescianini showing us the Franciacortia Wine region and where their winery is located in relation to Lake Iseo and some of the other regions.

The tasting fun is about to begin….
The line up of wines we tasting during the visit.
Of the 5 wines we tried the Barone Pizzino Rose was my absolute favorite! It is 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay which was very bright, lovely and delicate and perfectly balanced. I found most of the Barone Pizzini Wines a bit fresher and greener than I typically like. It was explained to us that is international as the Italians seem to prefer more acidic greener sparkling wines and then by the time the wines get to the United States they’ve settled and aged a bit and are a bit softer (my style). So interesting how each country has their own preference of sparkling wine style.
Cheers to a lovely visit to Barone Pizzini. A huge thank you to Silvano and the team for making it such a memorable, informative and delicious visit!!
