I just got back from an absolutely amazing trip to Kauai, and one of the biggest highlights was where I stayed—1 Hotel Hanalei Bay! Perched on a hillside overlooking the breathtaking Hanalei Bay on Kauai’s North Shore, this sustainable luxury sanctuary is surrounded by lush tropical flora and offers the perfect blend of nature, wellness, and world-class hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be something memorable. And trust me, the pictures do not do this stunning place justice!

Luxurious Nature Inspired Rooms

The rooms seamlessly bring the outside in with thoughtful design touches that celebrate Kauai’s natural beauty. We had stunning views of either the lush gardens, soaring mountains, or sparkling Hanalei Bay—waking up to those vistas every morning was pure magic. The rooms are designed in soothing neutral tones with modern amenities like Nespresso machines, Bamford bath products, and comfortable bedding that made it the perfect retreat after days of island exploration. It’s the kind of space where sustainability and luxury come together beautifully.

Amenities For a Wellness Paradise

1 Hotel Hanalei Bay is all about wellness, and the amenities reflect that commitment in the best way possible. The adults-only infinity pool overlooking Hanalei Bay is absolutely spectacular—perfect for relaxing with a cocktail while taking in those incredible ocean views. The Bamford Wellness Spa offers treatments that blend ancient Hawaiian healing with modern therapies, using natural botanicals for a truly restorative experience. Anatomy Fitness is a 10,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor space where you can work out with state-of-the-art equipment and expert trainers.

There’s also beach access right at your doorstep for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking, plus the Princeville Makai Golf Course nearby for world-class golf. Whether you want to stay active or completely unwind, this place has everything you need.

We took advantage of the bikes available for hotel guests while my team Indiana was in the championship and rode to a neighboring bar to watch football!

Farm-to-Table Island Flavors

The food at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay was another major highlight of our stay. With seven food and beverage outlets featuring fresh, local, and sustainably sourced farm-to-table cuisine, every meal felt special. 1 Kitchen is their signature restaurant serving breakfast and dinner with ingredients from the hotel’s organic on-site garden and neighboring farms. We had a package including the daily breakfast at 1 Kitchen (which is $59 per person) and it was worth every penny. We ate a hearty delicious breakfast that held us over until dinner. This was one of my favorite hotel breakfast buffets ever!!!

Every day there was a different toast. Ricotta with lemon, avocado… The food was so creative, fresh and divine! The brunch is a MUST during your stay here. And on Sunday they even have a Bloody Mary Bar which I’ve heard locals even attend it’s so good!

The most delicious breakfast hash! Obsessed with this.

Welina Terrace is a Japanese-inspired lounge perfect for sunset views and dinner. Neighbors cafe offers sweet and savory options plus great coffee from 6am-2pm daily. The Sandbox is the poolside retreat serving classic Hawaiian beach fare. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented—you’re truly tasting the island with every bite!
