Cascina Longoria A Fabulous Gem in Italy’s Langhe Valley

During my last trip to Italy, I was excited to make a stop at Cascina Longoria in Italy’s Langhe Valley. I was the guest of my friends with the Italian Wine Club, One on The Hill (which I belong to and adore). The One on The Hill team curated a fabulous itinerary of their existing winery partners distributed in their club in the US as well as some new wineries they were looking to add to the club. Learn more about One & The Hill’s Wine Club on the blog here.

This father and daughter led winery is located in a Piedmontese historical farmhouse. Started by Giovani Toso in 1984, Cascina Longoria is now a fabulous bed and breakfast. Some of their well-known wines are their Barbaresco “Bordini”, Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, Dolcetto d’ Alba DOC, and Barbera d’ Alba Superiore. They offer guided tours of the vineyard and cellar, with delicious food pairings and professional guided tastings. Because of this great, tour I was able to learn all about the winery!

Winemaking

Since 1980, the cellar has improved over time to enhance production. At Cascina Longoria, it is divided into three areas: bottling, labeling, and storage of the finished product; winemaking, which is carried out in stainless steel tanks and used for the maturation of wines that don’t need aging in wood; the aging and refinement area. Because of these three sections, the visit was most impressive.
