When you’re a wine writer, or awine lover for that matter, September’s fast approach means something… Fall is here. Really, it means, harvest is here in the winemaking world. As September/Harvest approaches, I want to share my excitement for the upcoming Santa Barbara Fall Harvest Weekend (read more here) and a few of the festivities that surround this weekend.  Last year, I attended the Santa Barbara Fall Harvest weekend, read more here.  During this weekend, I had the pleasure of spending some time at a winery that I have gotten to know and adore over the years of my Santa Barbara Wine Country visits which is Melville Winery & Vineyards.

Located in Buellton, Melville Winery is a Santa Barbara gem that makes some of the most lovely, small batch, vineyard and AVA specific wines in the Sta Rita Hills region. Last fall, during the Santa Barbara Fall Harvest weekend, I attended Melville Winery’s Wine Club Dinner. This was truly a treat. Melville Winery is dedicated to producing exceptional cold-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah grown exclusively in their estate vineyards throughout the Sta. Rita Hills appellation.  Melville Winery started in 1996 with founder Ron Melville’s desire to grow cold-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah. This led to him purchasing Melville Vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills, located in the Western Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County.
