Although most of us find the time at the airport during travel a nuisance I’ve found the best way to embrace traveling is to get to know airports you frequent. As a San Francisco local who jetsets approximately 15-20 times a year SFO has become very familiar to me.
My favorite terminal is the American Terminal (Terminal 2) as it’s the newest and is clean, fresh, modern with some pretty incredible Dining & Shopping options. It’s become an airport I actually find myself looking forward to passing through. If I’m early or have a delay, I look forward to eating my way through this amazing terminal. I may sound crazy but after you’ve experienced over 50 airports in 35+ counties you begin to know the fabulous airports (think London Heathrow, Munich, Bangkok, Hong Kong) and San Francisco is one on my Top 10 Airports. Just another reason I love living in San Francisco!
1. Napa Farms Market
This is an incredible market with great eats, including a Tyler Florence market, Kara’s Cupcakes, cheese bar, fresh salads, sandwiches, and great gifts too. If you forgot a gift for the friend you’re staying with grab a great cookbook here or some local California products that any foodie will adore.
Tyler Florence Fresh within the market. Amazing food from talented Chef Tyler Florence.
Kara’s Cupcakes, some of the most delicious cupcakes in San Francisco within the Napa Farms Market
2. Vino Volo
Which is next door to Napa Farms Market is Vino Volo a fabulous Wine Boutique offering wine by the glass, by the flight and also some great cheese and food pairings. This is my go to if I’m delayed or have some extra time and want to relax before departing.
3. Compass Books
This is a fabulous store. It seems whenever I’m flying I want to grab a magazine or a postcard so this is the spot for that. Since I’m a Kindle girl, which you’ll see on my Perfect Carry on packing list here I don’t buy books anymore, but I still adore magazines!
4. Express Spa
This was quite possibly the best invention. It’s fabulous if you forgot to do your nails or have some extra time to pamper yourself with a 10 minute massage. As great as it is, the prices are on the high side so be prepared to pay a bit more than a typical mani/pedi!
5. Pacific Outfitters
This store is perfect for any type of gear you need. Backpacks, pillows, travel essentials…..
6. Kiehls
Another great spot for beauty essentials. If you forgot your Sunblock be sure to pick some up here I adore their facial moisturizer with Sunblock.
7. Natalie’s Candy Bar
Natalie’s is my go to for some sweets before taking off. The older I get the more candy I crave and this spot is the best!
8. The Plant
Another favorite offering great healthy option. For a morning flight my go to is the Egg Burrito. Be sure to order the salsa on the side, it is amazing!
9. Peet’s Coffee & Tea
Peets Coffee for your Java needs. Sadly for any Starbucks fans (myself) there isn’t one in this terminal so Peets is the next best option!
10. Wakaba Sushi
Wakaba Sushi is what I’ll typically grab if I have en evening flight and want sushi for dinner. It’s delicious and travels very easily.
I love this working space with plenty of outlets and great light to sit, work and hang out as you wait to depart.
