Wines of Alsace Dinner at Octavia San Francisco

Recently, I was invited by Wines of Alsace to a wine dinner and tasting in San Francisco at the amazing Octavia Restaurant. Between getting excited to enjoy Wines of Alsace, and the incredible cooking from Chef Melissa and the Octavia team, I was beyond thrilled to attend this evening.

The 2012 Hubert Meyer Pinot Noir was served with our appetizers and was extremely light. I prefer a fruitier, more spicy Pinot Noir, so this was not my style. That said, it was still very nice and enjoyable.

The Herb Roasted Chicken and the Local King Salmon entrees.

Our fabulous host, Theirry Fritsch. He is the Oenologist & Regional Marketing Manager of Wines of Alsace. He was beyond knowledgeable, warm, passionate, and truly helped make this meal so special.

The delicious vegetarian salad entree which was so flavorful and fresh.

The 2012 Vignoble des 2 Lunes Pinot Noir was one of my most favorite wines of the evening. It had a medium body, an incredible noise (I LOVE aromatic wines), and delicious fruity characteristics with a touch of spiciness on the taste, as well. Lovely. I could drink this all night!

The lovely Josh Thomas, who is the Wine Director at Octavia and took care of our group all evening. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and really helped make the evening a huge, delicious success.

For dessert we enjoyed a cheese plate (so French), as well as some sweets. The cheeses were paired perfectly with the Emile Beyer Pinot Noir (shown below). This wine was quite earthy and not as fruity as I tend to gravitate towards, but it was  still a nice compliment to the cheese.
