Cowgirl Creamery A Culinary Must Try In Point Reyes California
As you may have already read I’m a huge Cowgirl Creamery cheese fan. I love not only the taste of the amazing cheeses but also the story of the brand and it’s founders. To learn more about that, read more about my visit to Cowgirl’s Petaluma Creamery where I participated in the Cheese making tour.
If you’re planning a visit to Point Reyes either for a fun excursion or possibly to get provisions prior to the Tomales Bay Elk Hike at Pierce Point Ranch be sure to visit Cowgirl Creamery’s Point Reyes Station Shop. It’s super charming and they have everything from their cheeses (amongst other non Cowgirl cheeses) to salami’s, olives, crackers, sandwiches and fresh bread. Whatever you could possibly want or need for a hike or a snack is available here. The store is located within Tomales Bay Foods (shown below) and is open Wednesday thru Sunday: 10am-6pm. If you’re heading out for the day on a hike I’d suggest arriving by 10am so you can get started on your hike by 11 or so (this is specifically for the Tomales Bay Elk Hike at Pierce Point Ranch that way you’ll get to the picnic point by lunch time and be ready to enjoy the views and amazing food!! 80 4th Street. Point Reyes Station, CA 94956. phone: (415) 663 9335
The cheese making viewing area. Only one cheese is made here, the rest at are made at the Cowgirl Petaluma Creamery
Mission accomplished. What a delicious picnic spread courtesy of Cowgirl Creamery. I enjoyed this picnic along my hike at Pierce Point Ranch where you can hike and enjoy seeing the coastal views and endangered Elk. It’s a truly spectacular destination in Tomales Bay I highly recommend you check out!

My local Massachusetts co-op carries a Point Reyes blue cheese that’s delicious, but it doesn’t quite match up to Cowboy Creamery’s amazing cheeses – the perfect sustenance for a Point Reyes hike.
