The Best Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

As a Chicago native, I consider myself an expert when it comes to places to eat especially the best chicago deep-dish pizza. Over the years, you have seen culinary guides includes The Hottest Chicago Restaurants You Must Experience and Chicago’s West Loop Top 10 Restaurant List. Since Chicago is the birthplace of deep-dish pizza, check out my list of the best chicago deep-dish pizza

Bartoli’s Pizzeria

No strangers to awards, Bartoli’s Pizzeria is a Chicago staple. From “Top Five Deep Dish in Chicago” (Eater Chicago) to “Best Pizza in Chicago” (Food & Wine), Bartoli’s Pizzeria has made an impression on the deep dish pizza scene in Chicago. Although they are one of the newest, they have quickly become a Chicago favorite. I have personally NOT had a chance to enjoy Bartoli’s Pizzeria but with the amazing awards it is getting I trust it is as wonderful as my friends at Eater and Food & Wine claim it is.

Gino’s East

Easily one of the oldest pizzerias on the list, Gino’s East is also one of the most recognizable. Started in 1966 by two taxi drivers, Gino’s East has been consistently serving up iconic deep dish pizza ever since. Even after all these years, they still use the freshest ingredients. They even pride themselves on being the first to offer vegan cheese!

Giordano’s

Giordano’s started out in Italy in the small town of Torino over a hundred years ago. The tradition of famously thick-crusted pies was started by Mama Giordano. This was then passed down over generations to help form Giordano’s. The first Giordano’s was opened in 1974 and over the next 40 years, they’ve been making headlines nationwide. To this day, they’re a Chicago staple and shouldn’t be missed!

Lou Malnati’s

Lou’s is no newcomer to the Chicago Deep Dish scene. They’ve been around since the 70’s. However, Lou himself had been working in pizzerias since the 1940’s! Now they’re in four states with the majority in Illinois. The really unique thing about Lou’s is they still hand-make all of their pies with the best ingredients.

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that Lou Malnati’s is my PERSONAL FAVORITE Chicago-style Deep Dish Pizza. I order it one to two times per visit home. I even sometimes ship it if I’m really craving deep dish Pizza in California. Order your own Lou’s Malnati’s Deep-Dish Pizza online here.

Pequods Pizza

Many know Pequods Pizza locally as a best-known secret. Tucked away in Lincoln Park, locals flock to Pequods Pizza to avoid the large crowd’s seen at bigger pizza chains. The pizza has a caramelized crust, which is a newer technique in the deep-dish scene. If you’re in the area, enjoy their late night hours and welcoming, neighborly atmosphere. 2207 N Clybourn Ave, Chicago, IL 60614

Uno Pizzeria & Grill

Uno Pizzeria & Grill started in Chicago in 1943 and is said to have created deep-dish pizza. Over the years, they have gained a following and expanded. Now they have over 100 locations in 20 states and internationally. Most recently, they even offer delivery of their pizza to your home anywhere in the United States. However, be sure to visit the original locations in Chicago next time you visit.
