The Best Rooftop Bars in New York City

As we’re quickly approaching summer, I’ve decided to share with all of you what are, in my opinion, The Best Rooftop Bars in New York City. If you find yourself in the big apple this summer (which I can call it as I lived there for over 10 years), you will find this guide immensely helpful in terms of beating the heat and having a great time. However, my fellow Chicagoans might prefer the blog post sharing the Best Rooftops in Chicago to Experience here, and for an overall reach of my favorites nationwide, take a look at the Best Rooftop Bars in the U.S. here!

Azul on the Rooftop

Offering 360-degree views of lower Manhattan, Azul on the Rooftop is a trendy spot to spend any warm NYC afternoon. Its decor and cocktails mimic an Old Havana vibe that makes you feel like you’re on vacation during every visit. 525 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10013

JIMMY

Next on my list of the Best Rooftop Bars in New York City is JIMMY. This bar is so unique not only for its decor inspired by Picasso’s blue period, but also that it is a hybrid rooftop bar and rooftop pool deck. If you make this your regular happy hour spot, you’ll be in good hands all summer long. 15 Thompson St, New York, NY 10013

Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge

The next rooftop on my list of the Best Rooftop Bars in New York City is Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge. Situated on top of the Moxy NYC Times Square, this bar has some of the coolest and most intriguing events and their decor is equally as enticing. As of March 2021, the entire rooftop is decked out for their Pink Winter Lodge promotion. They’ve curated an après-ski-themed outdoor dining experience that you must see for yourself. 485 7th Ave 18th floor, New York, NY 10018

Mr. Purple

Another great NYC rooftop is Mr. Purple on the 15th floor of Hotel Indigo. This rooftop mimics the ambiance of an artist’s loft and has a wide selection of beer, wine, and both classic and modern cocktails. 180 Orchard St 15th floor, New York, NY 10002

Refinery Rooftop

Industrial decor, dramatic views, and creative cocktails make Refinery Rooftop an NYC gem. Currently open for indoor dining and heated outdoor dining, you can head over to this spot while the city continues to thaw out from winter. 63 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018

SERRA by Birreria

Next up, SERRA by Birreria. This NYC rooftop is a luscious green house, filled with gorgeous plants and decor. As a part of Eataly, you know you can count on them to have delicious food, drinks, and dessert too! 200 5th Ave, New York, NY 10010

Spyglass Rooftop Bar

For the perfect view of the Empire State Building, Spyglass Rooftop Bar is the place to be. This one lands a spot on my Best Rooftop Bars in New York City list because of its perfect embodiment of what a visit to the city is like. With expansive views, delicately crafted cocktails, and bites to share with friends and family, you’ll be celebrating the spirit of NYC all night long. 47 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018

The Crown

With beautiful, open views and brilliant drinks, The Crown is another favorite of mine. I also adore its modern feel and exciting happy hour menu. You’ll want to add this one to your must-visit list too! 50 Bowery, New York, NY 10013

The Roof

Last but not least, The Roof. The Roof is one of the most important spots on this list. Not only does it offer jaw-dropping views, but it is also full of energy. At sunset it is perfect for conversation, yummy drinks, and beautiful sunsets. At night, it’s an electrifying hotspot with DJ’s and all. 215 Chrystie St, New York, NY 10002
