The Harbor House Inn Divine Six-Course Lunch

For as long as I can remember I had always DREAMPT of staying at The Harbor House Inn AND Dining in their well known Michelin Star Restaurant. This dream became a reality for Valentine’s Day of 2022. After falling in love with this stunning beyond gorgeous and luxurious hotel, Harbor House Inn and the impressive Harbor House Inn Restaurant  led by Chef Matthew Kammerer I learned about a 6-course lunch service they offered. This is $95 vs. the $200 + 11 course dinner experience and since I was staying just down the street this visit at The Elk Cove Inn & Spa I figured what a perfect way to celebrate being back in Elk and getting to enjoy Chef Matt and team’s amazing cuisine and service once again.

Arriving at Harbor House Inn Restaurant

After dining here once I was so thrilled for a second trip back. I surprised my boyfriend Robert (who’s not quite as much as a foodie as I am but still adored the Harbor House Inn during our visit). So what a treat getting to return for a daytime culinary experience. I thought the daytime visit was just as amazing as the evening for a few reasons.

First, for under $100 you get to experience this Michelin Star Restaurant.

Second, there is something lovely about dining during the day with the beautiful sun shining (see below) and the ocean in the backdrop of your meal. This dining room has the most gorgeous ocean as a backdrop to the dining room.

Third, some (not me but some I’ve heard) get a bit tired during a 3-4 hour meal so the shorter lunch service is the best of both worlds.

Speaking of my favorite Michelin star restaurants, see my blog on The Best Michelin Star Restaurants To Try.

The Six Course Lunch

The first course was sourdough bread with cultured butter and lettuce. During this we were also poured some great white wine from the area that would accentuate the other flavors.

If you read my first blog post about dinner at The Harbor House Inn you’ll recall I referred to this bread as THE MOST DELICIOUS BREAD I’VE EVER HAD. I still attest to that. It was so good we even begged to take a piece or two of our leftovers back with us.

For this special birthday (Robert’s Birthday) occasion,, I brought a wonderful bottle of Kistler from my first visit to this impressive Sonoma Winery. Read more about Kistler Vineyards on the blog and if you adore Chardonnay and haven’t been I suggest reaching out to plan a visit soon!

The second course was Harbor House Ranch Greens which had a buttermilk dressing absolutely divine!

The third course was cauliflower with cauliflower puree and preserved lemon. The presentation for every meal is stunning, making it almost too pretty to eat.

Next on the list was the delicious grilled cabbage summer squash and tomatillo.

A highlight was the smoked pork loin with broccoli, sea vegetable vinaigrette, and calhikari rice.

Lastly, we finished our meal with Rooibos Tea Sherbet garden infusion with citrus marigold. We were able to enjoy this with a breathtaking view that makes the experience that much more special. I suggest having your first few courses inside then if the weather cooperates moving outside for dessert, wine and the most magical views of the ocean,

There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view of the beautiful California Coast while sipping on some of the amazing wine they have.
