Smashburgers are honestly one of my all-time favorite types of burgers — there’s something about that crispy, caramelized crust that just hits different every single time. I’ve spent way too much time eating my way through Healdsburg, and I’ve finally put together a list of my absolute favorite spots to get one. These are the places I keep coming back to, and trust me, they’re worth every bite. Keep reading to find out which ones made the cut.
Goodnight’s Prime Steak & Spirits
Goodnight’s Prime Steak + Spirits in Healdsburg is one of my new favorites! You know I’m always hunting down the best spots in wine country, and this place absolutely crushed it.
The whole vibe is that perfect mix of fancy-but-not-stuffy that Healdsburg does so well. Like, you feel special but you can still relax and actually enjoy yourself. But here’s the real insider tip: DO NOT SLEEP ON THEIR HAPPY HOUR. Seriously, the burger alone is worth the trip. We’re talking a gorgeous smash burger situation with crispy edges (you know I love that crunch), topped with perfectly crispy bacon – and yes, they’ll do it well-done if you ask (because that’s obviously the only correct way to eat bacon). The whole thing is just ridiculously good. And pair it with their fries? Game over.

Dry Creek Kitchen’s Spirit Bar
Dry Creek Kitchen, from Chef Charlie Palmer, read about my Interview with Chef Charlie Palmer here, has a fabulous Burger, The “Smashed Burger”. Any Burger lover (like me) must try! It’s quite traditional with American Cheese, Smoked Bacon, Shredded Lettuce, B & B Pickles, Red Onion, Tomato, Animal Sauce and a Brioche Bun. And the best part is it’s only $12.50 during their happy hour which is Sun-Th | 5:30-7p and Fri-Sat | 5-7p.

Healdsburg Bar & Grill
Awarded Food and Wine Magazine’s 2018 list of “Best Burgers in the U.S.,” you’re going to have to try Healdsburg Bar and Grill’s Burgers. They have so many delicious burgers on their menu, but you have to try their smashburger! The incredible Chef Charlie Palmer, which you can read about in my Interview with Chef Charlie Palmer, really upgraded this smashburger. 245 Healdsburg Ave, Healdsburg, CA 95448

Iggy’s Burger
This burger inspired this blog post. It’s super delicious, reminds me of a Burger I’d have at a bbq with simple cheese, pretty greasy but in a good way and you’ve gotta pair it with their duck fat french fries. Perfection!

Roof 106 at The Matheson Smash Burger
Another favorite is the Matheson’s Roof 106 Smashburger. This is offered on their twilight menu (from 8-9pm) and every time I am there and it’s on the menu, I order it. Another delicious smashburger, such tasty comfort food paired with their fab modern Margarita of course!
The Burrow
The Burrow Healdsburg is an exciting new addition to the Healdsburg culinary scene, offering a cozy cafe vibe with seriously delicious food. If you’re stopping by, you absolutely have to try their smashburger—it’s quickly becoming legendary among locals and visitors alike! 22 Matheson St, Healdsburg, CA 95448
