Lingua Franca Wines
Lingua Franca Wines is a Willamette Valley Oregon Winery that is truly special in its own way. For those who don’t know what “lingua franca” means, here is an excerpt from their website:
“The name ‘Lingua Franca’ is a universal language that can bring people from diverse backgrounds together sharing a moment of pleasure. Lingua Franca, named after the Franks, was a universal language in the Middle Ages that could be understood by all and was used along the trade routes. It was the language of diplomacy and brought people together from diverse cultures. Lingua Franca also means to ‘speak frankly,’ directly, just as our wines aim to speak directly of their terroir, their place.”
You can see Lingua Franca’s philosophy in their dedication to their vineyards and the region of Willamette Valley in Oregon. They produce high quality, delicious wines that feel luxurious and special in taste and texture. The beautiful rolling green hills of Lingua Franca were absolutely breathtaking! I was lucky to visit the vineyards (up the hill) on a Tour with Owner Larry Stone.

Lingua Franca Wine Tasting
The gorgeous Lingua Franca Wines we tasted. They were delicious and the bottles were simply divine! I first tasted Larry’s Chardonnays at a Wine & Spirits Top 100 Tasting in San Francisco and it’s hard to describe how special they were. They had a unique taste that reflected more of an old-world style yet still had nice bright acidity and fruit but in a more refrained, elegant way that most new world Chardonnays.
As a Pinot Noir lover, I had high expectations for Lingua Franca. As usual, they exceeded my expectations. This 2017 Vintage felt full and earthy. Additionally, every sip brought out a new dimension of this fabulous wine!
You can tell Larry’s a Master Sommelier just by looking at his shirt!
Just take a moment to appreciate the detail and artistry of these beautiful bottles!
