Arriving at Melka Estates & Winery. The winery is set back off of the Silverado Trail, providing quite a lot of mystery as to what guests will expect upon arriving. I have been driving by Melka Estates for years always curious when I’d get to visit and meet this legendary winemaking family! I met Cherie Melka at this year’s Premiere Napa Valley tasting their wines and approximately 20 other wineries that her husband Philippe Melka consults for. After that meeting, I reached out to visit and taste together and that’s how this visit came together.
The clean and stately exterior sets the tone for what is to come. I was beyond impressed by everything here!
Winemakers & Proprietors Cherie and Phillipe Melka (and their cute dogs!). It really is true the winery dogs are just as important as the wine makers.
Views of the winery. I enjoyed my socially-distanced tasting outside under the covered roof.
The architecture was beyond elegant and gorgeous. It really felt so luxurious!
Cherie and Phillipe have such a deep passion for the art of winemaking that I adore. They also met at a super young age winemaking and spent lots of time together in Europe just adding more interest to their already rich romance and winemaking history.
Cherie leading the wonderful wine tasting. She was so interesting, informative and engaging at walking me through the wines we tried and answering all of my questions. See below for my video interview with Winemaker Cherie Melka.
The design of these bottles is so captivating!
A selection of the wines I enjoyed. Each and every one of them was special in its own way, but they were all fabulous!
The lovely Cherie pouring me some wine for the wine tasting
This wine was absolutely divine! It felt full and earthy while also being light and airy. This is certainly a difficult feat, but they pulled it off extraordinarily well!
Another stunning wine that I sipped on until the last drop!
