The Essential Mill Valley Dining Guide

Mill Valley, Marin County is a gorgeous part of Northern California with plenty of delicious restaurants! Follow along to read my Mill Valley Dining Guide, so you can be sure to eat well on your next trip.

Buckeye Roadhouse

Buckeye Roadhouse is one stop you simply cannot miss. I recommend enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine in the rustic bar before entering the beautiful Aspen lodge-style dining room. I also LOVE to eat in the bar as it’s beyond cozy and you will never want to leave.

Their chefs use fresh and local ingredients to create delicious traditional American cuisine with a Californian twist. Doesn’t it just look delicious! 15 Shoreline Hwy, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Bungalow 44

Bungalow 44 prides itself on being the “just-up-the-street, just-around-the-corner, come-as-you-are and make-yourself-comfortable” spot in Marin County.

If you love upbeat nightlife the relaxed bar boasts an extensive wine and beer selection, as well as specialty cocktails, is the perfect choice for you!

They have a large and varied menu that changes seasonally, so you can be sure there’s something for everyone!

I’m really looking forward to exploring this spot on my next trip. 44 E Blithedale Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Floodwater

On my latest visit to Mill Valley my boyfriend and I stopped in here and it was amazing! Floodwater is “Built By Locals, For Locals” and family-owned and operated, how fantastic.

Mill Valley Floodwater

This is a bar-driven restaurant with an enticing social atmosphere, delicious cocktails, and an approachable Californian menu.

Mill Valley Floodwater

We spent a delightful evening in the Den on their extremely comfortable couches and making the most of the wonderful wine selection! This is definitely a spot I can’t wait to go back to. 152 Shoreline Hwy, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Paseo Bistro

Upon moving to San Francisco,  I was told that El Paseo was one of the best restaurants in Mill Valley. They recently reopened and rebranded as Paseo Bistro!

The menu is created using seasonally optimum ingredients from local ranchers, growers, and artisans, to develop innovative recipes that represent the best of local California.

I absolutely adore that their wine, beer, and spirit sourcing are also local!

I haven’t managed to visit since the reopening, but I took my Mom there for Mother’s Day before they closed, read all about our visit here. You can be sure I’ll be back there as soon as I can! 17 Throckmorton Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Piatti

Piatti is a must-visit for an Italian food lover!

This Italian restaurant has been serving delicious homemade fresh pasta and pizza since 1987.

They even have a market and meal kits so that you can bring them home with you! A great idea for date-night or family fun. 625 Redwood Highway, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Piazza D’Angelo

Piazza D’Angelo is a family-run business right on the main square of downtown Mill Valley. The story behind this restaurant is beautiful, two brothers moved to Marin County from Calabria, Italy in 1980 and opened their dream trattoria!

This restaurant only uses locally sourced ingredients, meaning it’s eco-friendly, supporting the local area and the food is amazingly fresh!

This restaurant is top of my list for my next trip to Mill Valley! 22 Miller Avenue,

Playa

Playa is a beautiful restaurant with a passion for Mexico’s cuisine and culture.

This spot uses a farm-to-table menu to showcase the diversity of Mexican culinary creativity. So if you love Mexican food, as I do, this is definitely the one for you!

They even age their own tequila in these gorgeous old whiskey barrels, I know I’ll be taste testing these! 41 Throckmorton Avenue Mill Valley, CA 94941

Tamalpie Pizzeria

Tamalpie Pizzeria is a great spot for you to get your Italian food fix!

They use Italian flour and ferment the dough for 48 hours, to give it that authentic taste.

They also have a host of delicious creamy pasta and fun cocktails! 477 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley

Robata Grill

I adore sushi and Robata Grill is a great example of a restaurant with the perfect sushi. Robata means “by the fireside” and refers to the centuries-old country-style cooking of northern Japanese fishermen and that’s not where the authenticity of this spot stops!

Their head chef Shinji grew up in Japan and has been working in restaurants since he was young. Later he was asked to travel to San Francisco to train prospects in the art of sushi making.

Shinji has been making sushi in Marin for over 20 years and 14 of them at Robata Grill! 591 Redwood Hwy, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Super Duper Burgers

Super Duper Burgers is a fabulous burger chain that started right here in the Bay Area, and as I’m sure you know, I love supporting local businesses!

These amazing burgers and all their ingredients are organic and locally sourced, including California-grown avocados! 430 Miller AvenueMill Valley, CA 94941

The Cantina

The Cantina has been in business for over 40 years, serving delicious Mexican food that is adored by both locals and tourists!

Alfresco dining is the way to go at The Cantina, with beautiful patios and even firepits the atmosphere is perfect! 651 E Blithedale Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Vasco

Vasco is a delicious Italian restaurant dedicated to the owner’s father.

The food is made with locally and organically grown ingredients and there’s a great full bar so you can enjoy a good glass of wine.
