My Arrival at the Spa Solage
This stunning Sunset view of the Spa was taken the first night I arrived to the Spa Solage. The team hosted me and the other media guests for a tour of the property where we had this amazing sunset view. Talk about stunning!
All smiles as I step into my Mud Bath treatment at the Spa Solage. This was my first mud bath so I had no idea what to expect (I actually thought I would have mud rubbed on me). See how wrong I was below when I show you how the treatment really goes!
The relaxation room where guests can relax pre or post treatment.
The Treatment Process
Step one:
Pre treatment is a soak in the thermal pool. It’s recommended to do this at least 10 – 15 minutes before your mud bath. So I’d suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early to change, get toured around and allow plenty of time for the thermal pre pool soak.
I can’t believe it’s January and I’m in a pool in Napa beyond comfortable and about to get this incredible mud treatment. Just to remind you I grew up in Chicago where we do not get to swim in outdoor pools in January, even if they are heated. This is why I love California life so much! And of course it does not get any better than life at the Solage Resort!
Step 2:
After my soak I was greeted by the technician for my mud slide to start. Guests are asked to select a fragrance for their mud. Note that the mud used at The Solage Spa is white french mud (another surprise I was expecting dirty mud from the location Calistoga, boy was I wrong!). I selected the stress relief to help calm me and set the mood for this lovely relaxing experience.
Step 3:
I am guided into my mud treatment room with my bucket of mud and told I can apply it to myself than lay here for 20 minutes relaxing and letting the mud soak. The technician will then come knock on the door when it’s time to shower and rinse off the mud. You can imagine my surprise I was being left alone, I literally expected someone to be rubbing mud on me. I am so relieved that was not the case and I applied the mud to myself. This would be pretty fun and romantic to do with a loved one, so if you’re heading to The Solage Resort with a partner book this treatment together. How fun and romantic!
Step 4:
I got to enjoy a ten minute soak in this bath. The temperature was pretty warm and was supposed to moisturize you further and of course, just one more relaxing experience.
Step 5:
After the bath I was guided into another room with a chair where I was told I will relax for 20 minutes. The chair goes back and you actually have your legs above your heart. This was so cool and also so so relaxing. For sure the perfect ending to this magical mud treatment.
I was so relaxed at this point, there is also white noise on the ear phones and the lovely neck pillow. The team at The Solage Spa has thought of everything!! My only request would be to let me sleep another hour or two in this chair (post treatment). Ha, it’s so cozy you really do not want to leave!
