The Best Date Spots in Healdsburg, CA: Where Romance Meets Wine Country

Champagne by the glass, fireside dinners, rooftop cocktails, and the most romantic corners of California’s most charming wine town — this is your ultimate Healdsburg date spots guide.

Healdsburg is, without question, one of the most naturally romantic places in all of California. A storybook plaza, world-class restaurants, intimate wine bars, firelit lobbies, and some of the most beautiful vineyard scenery on earth — it is a place where a date feels effortless. The hard part is not finding something romantic. The hard part is choosing from a list this good.

Whether you are planning a first date, a special anniversary, a spontaneous weekend escape, or simply a long, lingering evening with someone you adore, this is your definitive guide to the best date spots in Healdsburg. From a bottle of bubbles at a Champagne bar to a tasting menu at one of the most acclaimed restaurants in Northern California, it is all here.

Andy’s BeeLine — Appellation Hotel

Andy’s BeeLine is the bar concept at the Appellation Hotel and it is an absolute gem — a sophisticated, beautifully designed cocktail bar with a focus on local spirits, natural wines, and the kind of creative drinks program that makes a hotel bar feel like a genuine destination in its own right. The space is intimate and gorgeous, the bar team is talented and passionate, and the whole experience feels like discovering a wonderful secret.

This is an ideal spot for a date night drink — before or after dinner, or as the centerpiece of an evening on its own. The Appellation Hotel itself is one of the most beautiful properties in Healdsburg, and simply being inside it makes everything feel more romantic.

Bravas Bar de Tapas

Bravas is one of Healdsburg’s most beloved restaurants for a reason: it is Spanish tapas done with real conviction, in a beautiful space, with a cocktail program that is legendary in its own right. The gin and tonics here are among the finest in California — served in balloon glasses with botanicals and garnishes that make the whole production feel like a small ceremony. The food is exceptional: crispy patatas bravas, silky jamón, beautifully grilled pintxos, and dishes that make you want to order everything on the menu.

The format is inherently romantic — small plates, sharing, discovering what you both love, lingering over a second (or third) gin and tonic as the evening disappears. Bravas is a place that never gets old, no matter how many times you have been, and it is absolutely perfect for a date. The back patio is why so many fall in love with this charming spot. It’s cozy, with a beautiful tree strung with café lights, and it’s hard not to want to come back again and again.

The Bubble Bar — Champagne & Sparkling Wine

The Bubble Bar is one of the most purely romantic spots in all of Healdsburg, and if you are looking for the perfect way to start a date night, this is it. Entirely dedicated to Champagne, sparkling wine, and the joy of bubbles, the Bubble Bar is intimate, elegant, and designed for exactly the kind of evening where everything feels a little more special than usual. The selection is extraordinary — grower Champagnes, vintage bottles, domestic sparklings — and the staff knows their wines with genuine depth and passion.

There is something about a glass of Champagne in a beautiful small room with someone you care about that makes the whole world feel right. The Bubble Bar delivers that feeling every single time. Start here and let the evening unfold.

Dry Creek Kitchen

Dry Creek Kitchen is a Healdsburg landmark: Charlie Palmer’s acclaimed wine country restaurant at Hotel Healdsburg, right on the Plaza, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a soaring dining room, amazing service, delicious food and fabulous vibes. It’s always lively, and whenever you visit you’ll run into fellow Healdsburg friends. The cooking is California Wine Country at its most refined: exceptional local produce, impeccably sourced proteins, and the kind of cuisine that makes the whole region proud. In 2026, it celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The outdoor terrace in warm months is also a great setting to enjoy a glass of local Pinot Noir, candlelight, the gentle hum of the plaza, and food that would make anyone fall in love with Northern California all over again. This is a classic for a reason.

JSF Tip: Bring a bottle of Sonoma County wine and they’ll waive the corkage fee.

Folia Restaurant — Appellation Hotel

Folia at the new and spectacularly beautiful Appellation Hotel is one of the most exciting restaurant additions to Healdsburg in recent years. The design of the space is stunning — all warm wood, natural light, and the kind of considered, beautiful architecture that makes you feel good simply by being inside it. The menu is seasonally driven and ingredient-focused, with a wine program that celebrates the extraordinary diversity of Sonoma County’s vineyards.

Folia is a date spot that feels genuinely of this moment — modern, beautiful, and deeply rooted in the local landscape. The adjacent Andy’s BeeLine bar is also perfect for a pre or post-dinner cocktail. Come here when you want something that feels current, exciting, and completely Healdsburg.

Hazel Hill — Montage Healdsburg

Hazel Hill at the Montage Healdsburg is one of the most romantic date destinations in Healdsburg. Set within the stunning 258-acre Montage resort among the vineyards and oak trees, Hazel Hill is all warm wood, fireplaces, vineyard views, and the kind of unhurried, impeccable luxury that only the very best properties in the world manage to pull off.

The tasting menu here is extraordinary — locally sourced, beautifully composed, and paired with wines that represent the very best of Sonoma County and beyond. This is the date night you pull out for someone truly special. It is, frankly, one of the most romantic evenings money can buy in Northern California. Worth every single penny.

LIOCO Wine Tasting Room

Lioco Wine Tasting Room is one of the most adored wine producers in Healdsburg, California — known for Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that wine lovers genuinely get excited about — and their Healdsburg tasting room is a beautiful, low-key gem. The space is relaxed and unpretentious, the pours are generous, and the conversation that inevitably happens over a glass of exceptional wine makes this one of the most naturally romantic tasting room experiences in town.

This is a date spot for people who love wine with genuine curiosity and want to discover something wonderful together. The LIOCO team is warm, knowledgeable, and makes you feel completely at ease. Come here, share a flight, and fall a little more in love — with the wine and with whoever you brought with you.

The Madrona Lobby Bar

The Madrona is one of the most storied properties in all of Healdsburg — a Victorian inn and estate nestled among its own gardens and vineyards just outside of town — and the Madrona Lobby Bar is one of its most lovely and romantic offerings. The setting is pure 19th-century California romance: antiques, warm fireplaces, lush gardens just outside the windows, and the kind of hushed, beautiful atmosphere that makes you feel like you have stepped completely outside of ordinary life.

The cocktail and wine program here is thoughtful and carefully curated, and the service is gracious in the old-fashioned, unhurried way that great hospitality always is. This is the spot for a deeply romantic, quietly beautiful end to a Healdsburg evening — or a wonderful start to one.

Talk about a romantic date spot: whether you’re in the bar, out on the wraparound deck or in the gorgeous restaurant, every spot in the hotel is breathtaking.

Roof 106 — The Matheson

Roof 106, perched atop The Matheson on the Healdsburg plaza, is the kind of rooftop bar that makes you feel unreasonably happy the moment you step out onto it. The views over the plaza, the surrounding hills, and the vineyards beyond are genuinely stunning, the cocktails are excellent, and the energy — especially on a warm evening as the light turns golden — is among the most fun and festive in all of Healdsburg.

This is the perfect pre-dinner cocktail spot, the ideal place to start a date night with a glass of something cold and beautiful, or simply somewhere to spend a long, happy evening watching Healdsburg do what it does best. Order the seasonal cocktails, find a spot by the railing, and enjoy one of the best views in wine country.

Valette Restaurant

Valette is, simply put, one of the best restaurants in all of Sonoma County — a farm-to-table masterpiece created by brothers Dustin and Aaron Valette that showcases the extraordinary ingredients of the surrounding region in a dining room that is warm, intimate, and genuinely special. The tasting menu here is a love letter to Northern California’s bounty: hyper-local, seasonal, and executed with a level of technique that has earned Valette national recognition and a devoted following.

For a landmark date night — an anniversary, a birthday, a celebration that deserves the absolute best — Valette is the answer. The service is impeccable, the wine list is extraordinary, and the experience of eating here together is the kind of thing you will talk about for years. Book well in advance.

Me and my other boyfriend (aka Bob Valette)! A visit to Valette or The Matheson isn’t complete without seeing Bob, chatting and sharing a glass of wine with him. I adore Bob and the entire family, and Bob walking the floor of both restaurants is one of the charming touches that make Valette so special and homey.

The “It’s Not Your Snickers Bar” dessert is an ESSENTIAL order on any visit to Valette. Pair it with a lovely dessert wine and you’re all set!

Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar

Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar on Healdsburg Avenue is one of the most fun and genuinely romantic date spots in all of wine country — and it is criminally underrated as such. The raw bar here is spectacular: oysters on the half shell, chilled shellfish towers, ceviches, and the kind of fresh, beautifully sourced seafood that makes a long, leisurely evening feel like an event. The cocktail program is excellent, the wine list is thoughtfully assembled around coastal-friendly whites and sparkling wines, and the atmosphere is lively and warm without ever feeling rushed.

This is the spot for a date that feels festive and special — sharing a tower of shellfish, splitting small plates, sipping something cold and delicious. The format is inherently convivial, the energy buzzy and fun, and the whole evening feels effortless.
