Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Views of the dining room as we arrived for the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Cellarius Kitchen Experience. Hard to believe it’s just four of us in this incredible dining room with Chef Travis Westrope.

Could this view be any more stunning looking right into the kitchen? During our visit it was a party of 4, me and Aliye and 2 other guests. However, this experience is available for up to 12 guests. How fun to come here with a big group of friends!

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

The first wine we tasted during the experience was the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Arcadia Chardonnay. As a Chardonnay lover you can imagine how excited I was. This wine had an old world style to it and was extremely balanced with no oak as it’s fermented in stainless steel tanks, not oak. This was my favorite of the Chardonnays we tried and super approachable, drinkable and not a big California Chardonnay as typically found in California.

The first course was a Puffed Pastry with green peas with a pea sauce. It was so fresh and light and paired beautifully with the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Arcadia Chardonnay pairing.

The second course which was Eel Inspired Duck Confit Leg Lamb which was paired with the Fay Cabernet Sauvignon. This was a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and was the earthiest of the Cabernet Wines tasting during the visit. It was fascinating to see how two vineyards next door to each other on the property had such unique and distinct flavor profiles. Terroir really is such an important thing!

Our lovely guide, Kaleigh. She was literally one of the most experienced, knowledgeable wine hosts I’ve been hosted by in my 300 – 400+ winery visits. She was great at understanding the group’s needs (half were serious wine writers and industry members, the other half this was their first winery visit ever). Kaleigh made the experience interesting and knowledgeable for all of us as well as adding a lovely personality and fun energy to the visit.

Thanks to Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars for hosting me and Aliye for this spectacular wine experience. We had the most amazing time and I can’t wait to return again soon!
