The Little River Inn has been welcoming guests to Mendocino for 80 years. The family-owned and operated establishment is located right on the coast, around 15 minutes south of Fort Bragg. Upon booking, the inn promises sweeping ocean views, rooms with fireplaces, a luxurious spa, fine dining, and an Audubon-certified golf course.
Their prime location gives guests a perfect view of the morning mist over the coast.
You can find Charming Victorian architecture throughout the grounds, and this style is a fitting complement to the village of Mendocino.
Ernestine taking in the gorgeous scenery with me as we walk to our room! The Little River Inn is pet-friendly, so you don’t have to leave your furry friends behind for a weekend away.
The rooms at the Little River Inn have ocean-facing porches for their guests to enjoy. I found it so peaceful to wake up and drink my morning coffee on the porch while looking out over the rugged coast.
I began celebrating my weekend away with a bottle of Anderson Valley bubbly! Enjoying a bottle of Roederer Estate’s Brut brings back memories of touring their grounds with winemaker Arnaud Weyrich. If you’re interested in reading about that experience, please take a look at the blog post here.
Additionally, if you’d like to read about more Anderson Valley wineries to visit, be sure t0 go through the blog post here.
The enchanting landscaping perfectly mimics the natural beauty of the Inn’s location, which is an important factor in a hotel with such gorgeous surroundings.
Not only is the decor inside the restaurant incredibly warm and welcoming, but their food and service is even more impressive. In fact, I also have a post about my dining experience at the Little River Inn Restaurant on the blog! See it here.
The inn’s prime real estate on the cliffs of the Mendocino coast allows its guests to fully embrace the scenery. Take a look at the beauty of this place.
The Little River Inn’s golf course, opened in 1957, is utilized by guests daily. Simultaneously tucked away among the hills and redwoods while peering out over ocean views, players love this course for its unique features and unexpected challenges.
Cozy and rustic decor plays up the romantic and whimsical feel of the Little River Inn.
The owners decorate every inch of the inn with charm and intention.
Equally important, the bar at the Little River Inn is another aspect I adored at this charming Inn. It has its own independent dining menu from that of the restaurant with more yummy bites to try. Furthermore, the bar is fully stocked. While they can make all of the classics, they also have a selection of unique cocktails that incorporate locally-crafted artisan spirits. Flashbacks to bar life (pre COVID). We can’t wait until we get back to normal and can enjoy hanging at cozy bars like this one!
Manhattan or old-fashioned? Decisions, decisions.
There’s no better end to a day than a sunset over the sea.
Again, absolutely no shortage of stunning ocean views with a location like this! I love how the water and greenery are so vibrant; it demonstrates the health of the land. The Little River Inn takes the environment into consideration in all aspects of its operation. Below is a statement from their website.
“We view ourselves as stewards of our land, our community, and our legacy. From our Audubon-certified golf course to water-preservation techniques, to recycling flow, we strive to ensure that we’ll be able to continue welcoming your children and grandchildren to the same beautiful piece of pristine coastline our great-grandparents knew and loved.”
Their commitment to the preservation of Mendocino’s natural environment truly makes supporting their operation that much more enjoyable.
Perfect landscaping and the glimmering Pacific Ocean welcome you to the entrance of this cozy room.
Ernestine cozying up by the fire enjoying the luxuries of a pet-friendly inn.
The staff at the Little River Inn observes all CDC guidelines when it comes to COVID-19. Everyone wears a mask and maintains a respectful distance in order to accommodate and protect their guests. I even got my breakfast delivered right to my room. As you can see, Ernestine needs to check out the delivery to make sure they didn’t forget anything!
The staff take care to make sure their guests are always well-fed, but that commitment doesn’t end with the restaurant. Their room service is top notch. For example, this fabulous breakfast spread is complete with a breakfast sandwich, bacon, toast, jam, and coffee. Delicious!
To conclude, I want to give a big thank you to the lovely Little River Inn and its amazing staff for hosting and showing me a fabulous and relaxing time.
