I’ve been spending more time exploring Carneros and really loved my visit to Schug Winery. This is located quite far back off highway 121 and has spectacular views of the valley (shown above). On top of the picturesque setting the team is amazing led by Winemaker Michael Cox. Schug was founded in 1980 by Walter Schug, formerly of Joseph Phelps Vineyard. Schug Winery specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. During my visit I enjoyed a Wine & Food pairing followed by a cave tour and tasting with Michel. See more of the fun I had below!
Cheers to these incredible views and the delicious Schug Winery Chardonnay!
The cellar where I enjoyed my Wine & Food tasting and pairing.
The line up of amazing library wines in the tasting room.
My favorite of the various Chardonnays I tasted was the Carneros Chardonnay.
The historic barrels used to ferment the wines.

The winemaking facilities located at the back of the Winery. This really is a tiny operation and it’s hard to believe in this small space how much wine they make and also that the tasting room, cellar and winemaking facilities are all here. It’s amazing what a great job they do utilizing every inch of space in this winery and tasting room.
