Amaya
Amaya is a Modern Mexican restaurant that offers unique and delicious dishes. They also serve their amazing regionally produced wines in their rustic-hip dining room with vibrant artwork. It was such a nice place to eat and share wine surrounded by great people. Check out the Amaya Restaurants website here.
Carmela & Sal
Carmela & Sal is an amazing spot in Mexico City with the most delicious food. With every bite you can taste the history of the recipes passed through generations. Chef Gabriela Ruiz Lugo does a beautiful job at preserving these traditions, while adding modern twists in the kitchen. Read more about the Carmela & Sal restaurant here.
What better way to celebrate New Years than to hit up Mexico City and have a fabulous meal with great Champagne? This is my dear friend Katherine (aka Kat) and we have travelled to 12 countries together including gems such as Croatia, read my Croatia coverage here, Morocco, read my Morocco coverage here and more! For a travel blogger, there is nothing better than a best friend you can travel the world with!
The food at Carmela & Sal was absolutely delicious, and we had this amazing dessert that you can see below.
Contramar
If you’re a seafood lover like I am, Contramar is the place for you. Fresh fish and seafood is caught daily and it’s divine. This is one of the most popular and well-known restaurants in Mexico City-owned and led by Chef Gabriela Cámara who also has a restaurant in San Francisco called Cala (which is a gem). If you plan to visit Contramar during your visit plan AHEAD and make a reservation early! Contramar covers an array of culinary styles which makes this place so unique and delicious. Check out the Contramar website here.
This place is very popular and clearly a favorite, you must check it out yourself.
The whole fish we enjoyed while dining at Contramar. This was delicious and another item I suggest you order.
Some of the best shrimp tacos I have ever had, so much flavor!
Check out the mouthwatering dessert we were able to share here..
Cheers to a fabulous meal at Contramar with my dear friend Kat. On this trip we realized we had been to 12 countries together (in 20 years). Talk about a perfect best friend for a travel blogger.
Four Seasons Hotel Mexico City
In the heart of Mexico City, you can find the beautiful and luxurious Four Seasons Hotel. I am a huge fan of Four Seasons Hotels, I’ve stayed at many of their properties in places such as Seattle, Lisbon, Palo Alto, San Francisco and Mexico City of course. Check out my blog posts on my stay at Four Seasons Hotel Seattle, The Fabulous Four Seasons in Lisbon, Four Seasons San Francisco, Four Seasons Santa Barbara and The Historic Four Seasons in Mexico City (shown below).
Such a beautiful spot to enjoy a lovely meal. During our Four Seasons Mexico City stay we had a package that included daily breakfast in this stunning restaurant Zanaya, which was a fabulous perk and a lovely way to get a delicious big meal in before a day of sightseeing and adventures!
Talk about a great spread of sweets. This brunch was a great addition to the stay and I’d recommend booking the hotel room that comes with breakfast when you visit Four Seasons Mexico City.
